The
Australian sheepskins are soft and luxurious and the skin is clean and
supple. The skins average around 7-10 square feet and are ideal for lining, car seat covers, and upholstery. Each sheepskin is shaped differently. One measured 42" long and 30.5" wide down the middle and weighed 2.76 pounds.
The 3/4" shearling is only available in brilliant white that we stock or a cream that is available on special request. If you need cream color, please specify this when ordering. The 3/4" white shearling are either alum tanned or chrome tanned. Alum tanned skins are softer and has a parchment color back. Alum tanned is more appropriate for garments. Chrome tanned skins have a heavier, blue back and are better for dying and being around water. Chrome is more appropriate for heavy-duty stuff.
We have a limited supply of light chrome tanned 3/4" white shearling. It is clear white with a hint of cream and a light blue. It is ideal for use in upholstery.
The 1" shearling is available in a range of colors shown below. The 1" shearling are all chrome tanned.
We do not recommend using this shearling for double-face garments, e.g. a sheepskin jacket where the outside is a nice tan and the inside is a nice fluffy sheepskin. We recommend using our Icelandic sheepskin shearling for double-face garments.
