We can ship cultivated African abalone shells from our warehouse in Cape Town, South Africa. These shells
size ranges between 8 cm and 12 cm long (3.1" to 4.7") with a few that may be smaller or larger than this range. There will
be some breakage. The shells are packed in 20-kg poly bags.
The shells are fumigated at the port and
can only be shipped by the container load.
Approximately 16.5 MT of crushed shell in bulk bags can
be loaded into one 20-foot container and 25 MT into one 40-foot container due to weight limits.
We can ship 13.0 MT of whole cultivated shells in 650 individual 20-kg poly bags in one 20-foot container due to size limits.
We can ship 22.0 MT of whole cultivated shells in 1,100 individual 20-kg poly bags in one 40-foot container due to size limits.
The cost to ship ex-works Cape Town to Ho Chi Minh City was approximately US$3,500 in July 2025.
Delivery time to the port is approximately
three to four weeks following confirmation of an order and receipt of the wire
transfer prior to loading and shipping.

This
particular species of abalone was placed under CITES III trade
controls by South Africa in May 2007. In June 2010, the South African government removed the CITES status on this shell. No CITES permits are required any longer.
The European Environment Agency requires a permit to import into or transit Europe under Annex D.
These
shells are a by-product of the food industry and are sustainably raised and harvested.
