Paua Shells

Paua is the species of abalone shell (Haliotis iris) found only in the cold waters of southern New Zealand. The coloring varies from shell to shell and has an amazing iridescence. The shells are approximately 4" to 5" long and 3" to 3.5" wide.

International Trade in Raw Paua Shells

We can offer both LCL and full container load shipments of raw paua shell from New Zealand. The raw shells have not been further processed or polished.  Full container load shipments will take about six months to fill. We can spiral pack 11-13 metric tonnes in a 20' container.  Shipping costs from New Zealand to the U.S. west coast are approximately US$2,800 for a 20' container.

The price is between US$8.00-US$10.00 per kilogram, FOB New Zealand depending upon grade.  All orders must be paid in full prior to shipping.
