One American
Gray fox skin we had in stock measured 28" (71 cm) from the tip
of the nose to the base of the 14" tail. It was cased
(i.e., like a sausage and not split at the belly) and 6" wide across the middle.
The reject grade skins are ideally suited to fly tying. They have extensive problems with weak spots in the fur and may have some rips or tears. The tails are usually pretty bad as well if they even have tails. There is a lifetime supply of material for the typical fly tyer. Supplies of the reject grade skins are limited.
